Our Demands

The Taking Back Pride Coalition will continue to protest Twin Cities Pride until our demands are met. In addition to demands directed at TC Pride's general operations TBP maintains Solidarity Demands, as we recognize that our struggles are connected. Every struggle for justice directly impacts the struggle of our own community- from housing justice to a free Palestine, no one is free until we are ALL free!

Demands For TC Pride

  1. No corporations at Pride!
    1. In particular, weapons manufacturers, fossil fuel companies and the banks that fund them have no place at Pride.
  2. Prioritize queer and trans community members over politicians and celebrities! - The park, the parade, and performance spaces should center the most marginalized members of the local queer and trans community.
  3. We demand TC Pride uses their platform to stand against physical and legislative attacks against trans and queer people
  4. No Cops, no Military, no FBI, no ICE at Pride! - Stop promotion and recruitment at Pride. Remove police presence from parade and park
  5. Increase community involvement and transparency across TC Pride operations - We deserve a board that is actually reflective of our local community, not just executives and wealthy donors. Disclose board members and investments

Solidarity Demands

  1. Defend trans lives! 
    1. Resist Trump’s and the GOP's attacks on our trans siblings!
    2. MN State and local government to support queer and trans people fleeing political violence with access to essentials, healthcare, and housing.
  2. Free Palestine! No war on Iran!
    1. Divest MN from Israel and the US war machine!
  3. End police brutality and political repression! 
    1. End the deadly exchange between US law enforcement, military, and Israeli forces!
    2. Drop all charges against anti-ICE and pro-Palestine protesters. Justice for those brutalized by ICE and MPD.
    3. City of Minneapolis to create a fully funded domestic violence investigation unit.
  4. Indigenous sovereignty now!
    1. Land back to indigenous communities! End all pipelines on Native land!
    2. Return ownership of sacred historical sites back to their respective tribes.
  5. No new 3rd Precinct and no new cop city
    1. Invest in community, not cops! 
  6. We demand a civilian police accountability commission (CPAC) now! 
    1. We need real accountability for racist and homophobic police led by those most impacted by police violence.
  7. Make Minnesota a REAL sanctuary state 
    1. Provide healthcare, housing, and essentials for immigrant and refugee communities.
    2. Ban 287(g) agreements between ICE and law enforcement statewide.
    3. Prosecute city, county, and state police officers who cooperate with ICE.
  8. Defend bodily autonomy and reproductive justice for all! 
    1. Decriminalize sex work and expand abortion access.
    2. Defend the right to gender-affirming care for adults and youth.
  9. Stop deportation and immigration bans. 
    1. UMN must end all collaboration with ICE.
  10. End environmental racism!
    1. Revoke the permit for Northern Iron!
    2. Sell the entire Roof Depot site to EPNI.
  11. Stop encampment sweeps! 
    1. Provide dignified services and housing for our unhoused neighbors.
